After an extraordinary 10 years of service to the Journal of the International Ombuds Association (JIOA), Shannon Lynn Burton, Ph.D has decided to step down as Editor to focus on other work shaping the field. The Board of Directors is seeking Letters of Interest from those members who would like to apply. The position description includes the following experience and skills, and will be finalized by 12 March:
Experience:

Familiarity with JIOA or other journal practice

Need to be comfortable educating people on the writing and research process

Have been published before and aware of publishing in general

Follower of field literature, so able to recognize holes and gaps in needed content

4+ years of Organizational Ombuds experience
Skills:

Politically astute and able to navigate organizational dynamics

Experience managing or chairing committees

Ability to adapt to global timing needs to work with the Editorial Board and staff

Google proficient

View Position Description
The Editor must also be able to devote approximately 10-15 hours each month to the role. Like many other academic and association peer-reviewed journals, this position is not paid, although any registration fees to attend IOA conferences and other key events are waived.
Timeline and Process:
Interviews will take place in the last week of April, with the Board of Directors making its decision by the end of May. The Interview Team will be led by President-Elect Wayne Francis Marriott. Letters of Interest should include relevant experience, any published articles, and your vision for JIOA. All Letters of Interest must be emailed to Ellen Miller, Executive Director, no later than 17 April.
