The course will begin with an overview of coaching methodologies and discussing the relationship between coaching and ombuds practice. It will then move into an overview of Dan Goleman’s theory of emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, self control, awareness of others, and relationship management. The instructor will model coaching methods and emotional intelligence practices throughout the course. Behavioral change and interpersonal skills can not be learned by reading, or even being told, rather by modeling and practice. This will be a highly interactive course in which participants engage in objective assessments, self-reflection, group discussion, observation, and role plays. Participants will be guided through their own coaching process to enhance their emotional intelligence. Ultimately, participants will apply their understanding of coaching to the goal of coaching their own visitors for improved emotional intelligence.
Participants will learn how to use coaching methods to improve visitors’ emotional intelligence. Lean more about Core courses.
