About the CO-OP® Credential & Other Levels of Designation

Are you interested in taking your role as an organizational ombuds to a new level? The Board of Certification for Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioners® offers three levels of designation: CO-OP®, Candidate for CO-OP®, and Inactive CO-OP®. Learn more by watching our quick intro video.

As of 1 June 2019 eligible ombuds can now receive certain recognition for taking the following steps towards becoming a Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner® (CO-OP®):

  1. Passing the CO-OP® Exam
  2. Becoming a Candidate for CO-OP®, allows ombuds who are unable to fulfill the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics requirements due to organizational limitations to receive a new level of recognition
  3. Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner® (CO-OP®)Although we have added new levels of recognition the CO-OP® designation remains unchanged.
  4. Moving to Inactive CO-OP® Status allows previously certified ombuds practitioners who are no longer able to meet the requirements of CO-OP® credential to move to a holding position, rather than starting the process over from the beginning if they later want to recertify
