Change is the only constant.... and this one is bittersweet.

12, June 2024

As you may have heard, Lindsay Jennings - our fabulous Managing Director and Vice President of Business Development at SBI Association Management – has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Orcas Island Community Foundation. This is a very exciting opportunity for Lindsay, as she will have a direct impact in the community she calls home. We find ourselves both celebrating for her and feeling very sad for IOA.

Lindsay has been integral to the growth of IOA since 2018 and was on the transition team right from the start. She quickly learned all things IOA, devoted 50% of her time to IOA and beautifully managed her team at SBI to support us. She also helped shepherd two executive directors, which is no small task. We have all come to rely on her calm and wise demeanor, sage counsel, and authenticity. So, this will be hard.

As we all know, with change comes opportunity. We will have the opportunity to explore some new efficiencies and look at things with “fresh eyes” with the help of our transition team at SBI, Louise Miller and Kelsi Brisebois. And of course, Ellen isn’t going anywhere. We trust things will go as smoothly as possible given this transition, as there are a lot of people with eyes on it. But as always, feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or experience any hiccups.

Cheers to you, dear Lindsay. Thank you for everything you have done for us. We will miss you terribly but please know you are always in our hearts.  And to our IOA Community: please be sure to send Lindsay a note or virtual hug before the end of June and let her feel the accolades she so deserves.

Sarah Klaper, IOA President and Ellen Miller,  Executive Director

Very well said, Sarah. Difficult to state Lindsay's impact on the growth of IOA not only in membership growth, but more so in Board Development, process improvements, association best practices, all while learning our profession and its value. She is one of our strongest advocates. Congratulations to Lindsay - well deserved. Grateful that we received her giftedness.
