SBI was unanimously approved by the IOA Board of Directors. A field of 10 potential AMC partners was vetted by consultants Bloch & Reed, resulting in two finalists who were evaluated by the Management Transition Task Force (MTTF). MTTF members reviewed firms’ proposals, conducted video interviews, and independently scored them across five primary domains (Culture Fit; Marketing & Brand Building; Operational Excellence & Technology; Member Engagement & Communication; Meetings Management & Growth). SBI emerged as the clear frontrunner, and the MTTF passed its recommendation along to the Board of Directors who in turn conducted their own vetting process, including reference checks and a site visit by president Marcia Martínez-Helfman.

Key transition activities are already underway between SBI, IOA, and Kellen staff, with coordination led by transition director Hunter Clemens. The few remaining weeks in 2018 will be extremely busy with behind-the-scenes work to ensure a smooth migration of IOA’s operations to SBI. This includes establishing a new database and website, and opening registration for the 2019 Annual Conference. Additionally, the MTTF will continue working with Bloch & Reed to develop a search process for the inaugural CEO of IOA. Stay tuned here for updates on these — and many more — exciting developments.
